It had been rumoured that David Haye could be coming out of retirement to fight Vitali Kiltschko in March, it was thought that Haye’s management team had been in negotiations with Vitali’s team to make the fight happen between the two.
Vitali Klitschko’s management team has today confirmed that they have made David Haye an offer to fight and have insisted that the ball is now in Haye’s court.
"Team Klitschko is in negotiations with Haye and has made him an offer," a management official for the Ukrainian brothers told Reuters on Tuesday. "Now the ball is in Haye's court."
David Haye lost a points decision to Vitali’s brother Wladimir in July, citing a broken toe the reason he could not perform on the day.
The Londoner tried to get Wladimir to agree to a rematch, but the calls fell on deaf ears. The Hayemaker officially retired from boxing on his 31st birthday in October, something the fighter always suggested he would do.
Haye has claimed after retiring that he merely retired from fighting anyone without the Klitschko name, Vitali has always said that he would like the opportunity to fight Haye and do what his brother failed to do, which was knock the Hayemaker out.
Vitali Klitschko insists that Tomaz Adamek is stronger than David Haye, speaking at a press conference to promote his fight against Polish heavyweight fighter which is taking place September 10th at the Stadion Miejski, Wroclaw, Poland.
Vitali who has never been a fan of David Haye and he added; “Who is better – Tomas Adamek or David Haye?
“I’m more than sure that David Haye is world champion by talking. Adamek was many times world champion by boxing. Right now I’m sorry for that.
“He wants to fight in the heavyweight. He wants to fight for a title in the heavyweight division. Okay, my personal opinion by talking, Tomasz will lose. By fighting, Tomasz is much more stronger.”
Vitali Klitschko has today said on BBC Radio 5 Live in the UK that he wants to fight David Haye in the Spring 2011.
Hhe has insisted that Haye should stop talking and sign up to the fight. Klitschko, who currently hold the WBC title is willing to fight in the US, UK or Germany,
"Stop talking. I'm ready to sign any time, let's make the fight in springtime." said Klitschko with no obvious readiness to give Haye some sort of period of grace after his third round destruction of Audley Harrison over the weekend.
He added, "No excuses any more, he talks too much, he's a great talker, but the question is, is he a good fighter or not?
"He's world champion by talking. Let's fight. Let's go."
Vitali Klitschko says he would be prepared to offer David Haye a 50-50 deal.
"Let's discuss where we would fight. Let's fight in the United States. I listened to a great proposal for Madison Square Garden. I'm ready to fight in the US, Germany or Great Britain," Vitali Klitschko added.
"Let's make a contract Straightaway. We are ready to sign the contract - I want to fight David Haye."
The words nest and egg spring immediately to mind. Although perhaps Klitschko is without need of any further monies for a pension plan, he recently announced that he intends to retire from professional heavyweight boxing at the end of 2010. He must have had a change of heart.
Vitali Klitschko put Shannon Briggs in hospital after their fight and remains there tonight, following their bout on Saturday night. Although the fight went the distance with Klitschko winning on points, with the media suggesting that the fight should of been stopped long before the 12th round. Shanno Briggs in now paying for his bravey during that fight. The American suffered concussion and fractured cheekbones during his lop-sided defeat to Vitali Klitschko.
Also the Ukranian champion wasted no time re-iterating his desire to face David Haye and add the Haye's WBA title to his own and the IBF and WBO belts currently held by his brother Wladimir.
"I would like to knock out Haye so that we can claim the only belt missing from the family's collection," he said.
"There is no-one in the world apart from my brother who can beat me, I am the strongest.
"I still have plenty of energy, and in a few months, I will be ready to get back in the ring."
Klitschko's agent said that they had made a generous offer to the Haye camp to try and convince him to step into the ring.
"We proposed that each fighter would receive 50 percent of the world rights, it is a fair offer," said Bernd Bonte.
"Haye has just to agree to it."
Meanwhile Shannon Briggs has released a statement from hospital saying,
Thank you all for your concern. I came to the hospital saturday night strictly as a precautionary measure, and after several tests the Dr.’s concluded that there were no severe head injuries. I am staying in the hospital to further examine an injury to my left bicep that I suffered in the first round. Unfortunately, the injury kept me from fully executing my fight plan. Not to take anything away from a brilliant performance by Vitali Klitchko Saturday night, had I had not injured my arm early on, who knows how the fight would have concluded.

Audley Harrison has reportedly agreed to a one million pound fight against David Haye for the WBA Heavyweight Championship on Saturday 13th November, this fight will take place at Manchester Evening News arena and will be carried on Sky's pay-per-view service. This fight is all but done and should there be no hiccups, this bout could be a signed deal very soon.
According to British promoter Frank Warren, a press conference has been arranged for early September, to announce that the fight will be confirmed for 13th November in Manchester and Frank Warren added, "Haye has sworn blind recently that he would not fight Audley Harrison. But it looks like he has changed his mind.
"The truth is on his past performances, Harrison does not really deserve a shot. Harrison got into this position courtesy of a lucky KO punch against Michael Sprott when he won the European title. Way down on the judges' scorecards, Harrison pulled out a winning hook in the dying seconds of the fight.
"That should serve as a warning to Dave. On paper, he's rightly a massive favourite, but he's also vulnerable. If he gets clipped, it could be all over. And for all his faults, Harrison can punch.
