Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney has indicated he wants to leave Manchester United, Fergie is not sure why the striker wants to leave but Wayne has said he wants a move away from Old Trafford.
Wayne Rooney took part in United's training session today but was carried off on a stretcher and Ferguson said that Rooney will miss tomorrow's Champions League game against Bursaspor. The Scotsman said he is bemused, shocked and disappointed that Rooney wants to leave but also said he has never had an argument with Wayne.
"David (Gill, chief executive) in the early part of the summer had opened talks with his agent and that was to be continued after the World Cup," said the United boss.
"I was in the office on 14th August and David phoned me to say he wasn't signing a contract.
"I was dumbfounded. Only months before he was saying he was at the greatest club in the world.
"I asked to have a meeting with the boy. He reiterated what his agent said, that he wanted to go."
