Hearts have suspended defender Craig Thomson with immediate effect after the player was convicted for indecent behaviour. On Friday the club said that they had carried out an investigation into the case and there was "no reason for Craig Thomson not to continue his career as a professional footballer".
However, the club has made a u-turn after sponsors began to drop their contracts with the Edinburgh side. The club announced the decision on Tuesday to suspend the player, only a day after saying they were backing the Scotland Under-21 defender.
Craig Thomson, 20, pleaded guilty to two charges of lewd and libidinous and indecent behaviour towards two schoolgirls aged 12 and 14 on June 16. He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and fined £2,000 for each offence
