Jerome Boateng Agrees To Bayern Deal

Manchester City's Jerome Boateng has agreed to join Bayern Munich, the defender has been knocked down the pecking order at Eastlands with the partner-ship of Joleon Lescott and Vincent Kompany working so well last season, the German joined City from Hamburg last season but has found his opportunities limited.

With the European Championships coming around next year, the 22-year-old feels that he needs first team action to challenge for a place in the German squad and with City unable to guarantee Boateng first team football, he has decide that he wants to go back home to Germany.

"It is true that I have agreed with Bayern on a four-year deal. Now it is up to Manchester to make it work. At the moment they are making things a bit difficult," Boateng told Kicker Magazine.

"It is about the position. Bayern want me as a central defender. That is also an advantage for the national team.

"My dream is to have a starting spot within a year, hopefully at Bayern, and then I want to win the European Championship."

Bayern Munich  captain Phillip Lahm  has welcomed the news countryman could be join him providing City agree to the move, he added; "Things are not up to Jerome or Bayern Munich, Manchester City  will have to agree in the end. At this point in time I do not know what might happen," he told Bild.
