Steve McClaren Appointed Nottingham Forest Manager

Steve McClaren has today been appointed the new Nottingham Forest manager following the sacking of Billy Davies yesterday on a three year contract, following two unsuccessful play off campaigns to get Championship side into the Premier League Davies was relived of his duties.

The former England and Middlesbrough boss has been out of work since leaving German outfit Wolfsburg last season,  McClaren aim will be to get Forest into the Premier League.


Forest chief executive Mark Arthur was delighted to confirm McClaren's appointment.

"The club moved quickly to secure his services as it is rare for a manager and coach of his undoubted calibre to be available," he said.

"Steve has a proven track record of coaching and managing at club level, having played a key role in helping Manchester United secure the Champions League trophy, three Premier League titles and an FA Cup; guided Middlesbrough to the League Cup and also to the final of the Uefa Cup and led FC Twente to their first ever Dutch title.

"We are delighted to have him on board at The City Ground."
